During the month of November 2021, we engaged in multiple initiatives to support men's mental health in the community and the Australian based charity Movember.
Movember is a not for profit that promotes the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men's suicide.
Globally, on average, 1 man dies by suicide every minute of every day.
Throughout November 2021, our team joined together and had a bit of a laugh, each growing their craziest moustache, and shaving it off on the last day off the month. We shared the journey via our Instagram and ran a poll at the end of the month, with the OG HGG (Michael Sears) taking the winners spot!
ABOUT BURLEIGH BROS
One of our main initiatives to support Movember was hosting Burleigh Bros, an HGG community fundraising event for local men to educate, teach, and inspire them to look after themselves and their fellow brothers.
Held at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse on the Gold Coast, Burleigh Bros was held in collaboration with LIVIN, Sound Physiology, Men’s Medicine. The 2 hour event drew in more than 40 local men and the interactive 2 hour event had attendees in laughs, hugs, and even a few tears (happy tears of course).
THE EPIC BUSINESSES THAT WERE INVOLVED
LIVINWell is a highly recognised mental health education program designed to break the stigma surrounding mental health.
Fabian from Sound Physiology covered a range of topics dedicated to optimizing health and performance through the means of physiological concepts.
Lino from Men’s Medicine used powerful breath and mindfulness practices to bring the men into a deep state of presence and connection.
Post event, the vibes were high. Large, cheesy grins seemed to be contagious and fist bumps were in abundance. Even the “I’m not a hugger” kind of guys were, well, hugging.
A huge thanks again to the amazing guest speakers and to all the incredible men for showing up for themselves, their families and the community - a rising tide lifts all boats.
All money raised from ticket sales was donated to Movember, along with 10% of our online sales for the entire month.
